David Jeremy Dowd, 54
May 22, 2024
David Jeremy Dowd, 54, of Lancaster, entered eternal rest on May 22, 2024, after a brief, yet courageous battle with cancer. Jeremy was born in Lancaster to Dolores Dowd and David P. Dowd, husband of Linda.
Jeremy found his passion early in life when he learned the inner workings of auto mechanics. At a young age he would tinker around cars with his father and progressively through his time at Conestoga Valley High School and his adult life he continued, working on cars doing mechanical and auto body work. He was an encyclopedia of knowledge when it came to fixing cars and he would not hesitate to lend a helping hand.
He will be remembered by his countless friends as kind, gentle, and generous to a fault. Regardless of where he was, he was able to strike up conversations with anyone, and walked away with someone new to share his experiences with. He was a member of the Riverside Camping Association and attended the Groundhogs and Rainmakers.
Jeremy is survived by his parents, siblings, Jennifer Bennett, wife of Jeffrey of Lancaster, Gregory Dowd, husband of Ashley of San Diego, CA, and Randall Dowd, husband of Jennifer of Palmer, AK; his uncles, Larry Miller, and Barry Miller, as well as 8 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in passing by his sister, Teresa M. Dowd.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024, at 10 AM at the Historic St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 119 S. Prince St. Lancaster, PA 17603, Father Brian Olkowski as celebrant. A visitation will be held at the church beginning at 9 AM. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Community Care.
