David L. Russell, 83
July 14, 1940 - October 20, 2023
David L. Russell, 83, of Lititz, PA, passed away at Hospice & Community Care in Mount Joy, PA, on Friday, October 20, 2023. He was born and raised in Neoga, IL, the son of the late Homer and Doris (Ferguson) Russell.
Dave graduated from Neoga High School and worked as a machine operator for R.R. Donnelly for 37 years. He grew up in the Pentecostal Church and held a strong Faith his entire life.
He was an Elvis fan, he loved to collect Lionel Trains and coins, enjoyed doing yard work, cheering for the Chicago Bears and Cubs, and maintaining his early 1900’s antique Buick brass car. Dave often referred to himself as Bad, Bad Leroy Brown because of his middle name being Leroy.
His grandkids were the apple of Dave’s eye. Dave enjoyed visiting his hometown to spend time with his family. He has always been a kind man who would do anything for anyone. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved making people laugh with his many stories and loved playing pranks on family and friends.
Surviving Dave are his four children: William Russell, husband of Deborah of Virginia, Roger Russell of Tennessee, Linda Dowell of Texas, and Dava Kreider with whom he lived; as well as nine grandchildren: Tori Carlsen, David Russell, Joshua Russell, Jacob Russell, Dustin Dowell, Megan Marsh, Mason Kreider, Madison Kreider, and Mallory Kreider; several great-grandchildren, his brother Ron Russell, husband of Janice of Illinois, and many nieces and nephews that he loved very much. Also surviving Dave are his stepsons, Douglas Barnett, Gregg Barnett, and Brock Barnett.
Dave was preceded in death by two children at their birth, son Homer Dane Russell and daughter Dava’s twin sister Dana Russell; and his brothers, Richard Russell, and Homer Earl Russell, and his stepdaughter Joni Barnett.
A viewing will take place from 1:00 to 2:00 pm, followed by the funeral at 2:00 PM with The Rev. Mark J. Thibodeaux, Sr. officiating, on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at the Spacht-Snyder Family Funeral Home, 127 S. Broad Street, Lititz, PA 17543. Interment will be in Witness Park, Lititz, PA.

Our thoughts and prayers have been with your family with the passing of Dave. He was a great neighbor. We remember when he helped us remove our Canadian hemlock trees — back when he was younger and stronger!!! Now that was way beyond neighborly! We appreciated his friendly countenance especially when alot of neighbors keep to themselves. Remembering him fondly.
