David W. Nicholson, 79

David W. Nicholson, 79, of Mount Joy, passed away with his loving family by his side on Sunday, February 18, 2024, after complications during his long battle with Parkinson’s.
He was the husband of Susan K. Peechatka Nicholson with whom he shared 23 years of marriage this past July 22nd. Born in Kinston, NC, he was the son of the late Elwin E. Nicholson, Jr. and the late Margaret Morgan Nicholson Stroupe.
David retired from St. John’s River Water Management District in Palatka, FL. After his retirement and moving to Pennsylvania, he worked part-time for the County of Lancaster in the Homestead Dept.
He loved football and was an avid Miami Dolphins and Florida Gators fan. David also became a fan of the Philadelphia Phillies. He enjoyed camping with his grandchildren, playing poker and pool, traveling, which included going on cruises and Disney trips, as well as bird watching from the comfort of his recliner.
In addition to his wife, Susan, he is survived by his daughter: Heather married to Zak Petrovic of Edgewater, MD; his 3 stepchildren: Jessica N. Frederick of Lithia Springs, GA, Amanda K. married to Philip Krout Jr. of Columbia, PA and Bradley S. Frederick of Binghamton, NY; his 5 grandchildren: Brooke, Nikki, Chase, Dylan, and Myles, a great granddaughter, Kinsley, and his fur baby, Holly.
Friends will be received by David’s family at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA on Saturday, February 24, 2024 from 2-3PM, with the Memorial Service to follow at 3PM.
