David William Phillips, 72

April 06, 2024

In loving memory of David William Phillips, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at the age of 72, on Saturday, April 6, 2024. He will be remembered for his love and devotion to his family, his faith, his passion for the water, traveling to France, golf, and his artistry as a Dental Technician.

Born as Ernst Edgar Batzïng in Landshut, Germany, David was the adopted son of William Smith Phillips (U.S. Army Ret.) and Doris Mae Lovett Phillips. David was the loving husband of Brigitte Renée Grivot Phillips, having shared 50 years of marriage. David was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Lancaster where he was a Eucharistic Minister and enjoyed helping parents with the sacrament of Baptism for their children. He was a life-long proud German member of the Lancaster Liederkranz. He enjoyed many day trips with his wife to the Chesapeake Bay where he enjoyed watching sailboats and eating crabs and oysters! He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan, enjoyed golfing with his sons, and a proud father of U.S. Armed Forces members.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Brigitte, are four children; Marc-Daniel Phillips (husband of Staci), Yannik Phillips, Céline Burleson, and John-Paul Phillips (husband of Jen), as well as six grand-children and many grand-puppies. Preceding him in death is his son-in-law, Geoffrey Burleson.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St Anthony of Padua Church, 501 East Orange Street, Lancaster, PA 17602 on Friday, April 19, 2024, at 11:00 AM. There will be a time of visitation with the family from 10:30 AM until the time of service. Interment will be in Grand Cimetière de Dijon (Les Péjoces), France
