Such a total shock for me to hear that Dave passed away. Dave graduated from McCaskey in 1971 with my wife (Jacqueline Hiepler). I first met him when he worked at Armstrong over summer break while he was attending Kutztown. He worked with me on several occasions And he was just a great guy. A pleasure to work with. Lo and behold, one day we were chatting at work, and the conversation turned to high school. I told Dave that I was married to a girl he graduated from McCaskey with in ’71. When I told him who she was, he got this huge smile on his face because he knew Jacki from high school. Yes, it IS a small world. Dave and I became great friends that Summer. We all went to the shore together and had a blast. I still have those shore pictures somewhere. Anyway, I left Lancaster in 1978 and joined the Air Force. When Facebook originated, Dave and I hooked up again on social media. The last time I had the pleasure of seeing Dave was at his Class of ’71’s 45th high school reunion in 2016. My wife “finally” had a chance to go back to Lancaster and attend one of her reunions. And since I knew alot of people from her class I was happy to go as well. And sure enough …. there was Dave! He was in great spirits. Smiling that huge, infectious smile of his and as outgoing as ever. We had a great time catching up at our table. It was indeed a fun experience. One I will remember always. And seeing Dave there after all those years was the “icing on the cake” for me. Makes me smile when I think about it. God speed my friend. Your passing fits the old adage of “gone to soon.” Dave was simply a great guy. I cannot say it enough. And he was certainly an inspiration to me and to countless others. I am privileged to have him as a passenger on “my life’s train”. To Sharon, and the entire Steele Family, you have my deepest, sincerest, and heartfelt sympathy.

I’m sorry to learn about Dave passing. We’d worked together briefly at his ad agency on East King Street. My wife knew him at Kutztown, and like me, always thought fondly of him. He certainly developed a fine family and not surprisingly, continued to be a very talented person. My sincere condolences to his family and friends. Bill Houck

Dear Steele Family, I just received a letter from David explaining that he would be handing over his caseload to another financial planner. I was stunned and even more stunned to find out he has passed away. He was more than an agent to me, but he personified the essence of the word Paternal. He truly care about each of his clients and I felt I had more of a friendship with him than a business relationship. He was truly a gentleman. I will sorely miss his kindness and concern for me and my family! I can’t imagine how devistating this loss is for you. I pray your memories of his life, laughs, and his beauty lifts your heart in this time of loss.
