Delia Acevedo, 87
November 27, 2021
Delia Acevedo, 87, of Lancaster went home to be with the Lord on November 27, 2021. Her parents were Saturnino Acevedo and Juana Mendez, both of Moca, Puerto Rico. She was born in Moca, PR and moved to Lancaster in 1987.
Delia was a very independent woman who lived on her own until her last year of life. She was funny and spirited and knew how to make others laugh. She loved talking on the phone and would often call her sons, granddaughters, and nephews to see what they were doing and make sure they ate a good meal. She loved having company and would always offer coffee and crackers for unexpected visitors, if she didn’t have a pot of rice and beans already cooking. Her favorite phrase was “God Bless You,” and she bestowed that blessing on everyone who entered and left her home.
Delia is survived by her sons, Jr Gonzalez and Adrian Valentín, both of Lancaster; her grandchildren, Aaron Miller, Meagan Gonzalez (Wife of John Adams), Alyssa Gonzalez, and Donato Almonte, all from Lancaster; Eduardo Valentín, Adrian Valentín Jr, and Raymond Valentín, from Springfield, MA; her great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Delia Gonzalez. She will be greatly missed by those who knew her.
A Funeral Service will be held at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543 on Friday, December 3, 2021 at 10:00 AM. Friends will be received at the Funeral Home on Thursday, December 2, 2021 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM as well as one hour prior to service.

My condolences goes out to the family. I can only imagine what a great lost Tia Delia is to all of you. As I read the obituaries, it hit home for me with her sister, Alejandrina (my abuelita) who I miss terribly. Like Tia Delia, she was a strong, independent, latina, who opened her house to all the family, who also raised most of us, and to others our second home. I wish I had the opportunity to meet Tia Delia, if for no other reason because she is related to me by blood. Looking at her pictures, remind me so much of my abuela. I know it’s tough situation with the family history. However, I would have loved to have meet her. I can only imagine she will be a void in many peoples heart, like it is to me. “If I would have know, that you wouldn’t be here anymore, I would have made the moments last a little longer”. To my family, near and far, I love you and hope we shall cross paths one day.
