Donald Gary Axe, 78

Donald Gary “Dub” Axe, 78, of Lititz, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2025. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Richard J. Axe, Sr. and Margaret Carpenter Axe. He was married 47 years to his beloved wife Carlene E. (Cremer) Axe prior to her passing in 2018.
Donald graduated from J. P. McCaskey High School, earned an associate’s degree from Penn State, and a bachelor’s degree from La Salle University. He volunteered at the Heart of Lancaster, was a 3rd degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus, and formerly an active member of Saint James Catholic Church. Donald also belonged to the Lancaster County Corvette Club. Most of all, he enjoyed and cherished the time he spent with his family.
Donald is survived by 2 children: Cori Axe (Jennifer) and Courtney Kleman (Eric); 3 grandchildren: Andrew Axe, Morgan Axe, and Jaxon Kleman; and 2 siblings: Jimmy Axe and Brenda Heisey. He was predeceased by 2 brothers, Richard and Ronald Axe and 1 sister, Wanda Deardorff.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at 11 AM at St. James Catholic Church, 505 Woodcrest Ave, Lititz, PA 17543. The family will receive guests beginning at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Witness Park.

As a volunteer visitor, I spent quite a bit of time with Don over the last year plus. We shared a love of oldies music. I thoroughly enjoyed our visits, he always made me chuckle and smile. He will be missed terribly. Condolences to his family.
