Donald R. Bronson, 82
Donald R. Bronson, 82, of Luther Acres, Lititz passed away on January 16, 2009 at Hospice of Lancaster County, Mt. Joy after a courageous battle with Parkinson Disease. He was the beloved husband of Doris Hutchinson Bronson to whom he was married for 60 years. Born in Syracuse, NY, he was the son of the late Arthur H. Bronson and Anna M. Bronson.
Don worked for RCA for 32 years in a variety of engineering, administrative, and management positions of increasing responsibility which included plant start ups in various locations worldwide. Positions included plant manager of RCA Marion, Indiana (1971), followed by Manager of International Operations (1973). Later that year, he became General Manager, European Picture Tube Operations. During this assignment he and Doris resided in Italy and France.
Returning to the US in 1977, Don became Division Vice President of International Operations followed by Division Vice President, Worldwide Marketing (1979) based in Lancaster. As VP, he was responsible for building a complete color picture tube plant near Warsaw, Poland and negotiated with the Russian government to build a plant in Russia. In 1981, he became Vice President and General Manager of Videocolor S.A., a Paris based subsidiary of RCA. He retired from RCA in 1983.
In 1990, Don was honored by being appointed as a “Chevalier in the French Legion of Honor” for bringing together US – French telecommunications marketing opportunities.
Don served in the US Navy during WWII. Following his military service, he enrolled in Syracuse University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1951 with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He also held the position of Vice President of the Syracuse Chapter of the engineering honorary Tau Beta Pi.
He is a member of Faith United Methodist Church and a member of the American Legion and the VFW.
He is survived by his wife, Doris; a daughter, Barbara Bronson of Elkton, MD ; a son, David of Pequea, PA; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Georgia Belle Edmonds, Stafford, Texas; three nieces, Mrs. Patricia Felker, Cinthia Weinheimer, both of Sugarland, Texas and Mrs. Constance Leech of Fayetteville, NY; a nephew, Robert J. Hutchinson of Pulaski, NY; and a brother-in-law, Robert L. Hutchinson of Irmo, SC. He was preceded in death by a brother, Kermit Bronson of Stafford, Texas.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Memorial Service that will be held on Monday January 26, 2009 at 10:30am at Faith United Methodist Church, 1290 Fruitville Pike, Lititz, PA with Rev. Bruce L. Lefever officiating. There will be a greeting time with the family from 10-10:30am at the church.
