Donald R. King, 73

January 18, 2025

Donald R. King, 73, of Lancaster, PA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 18, 2025, surrounded by his loving family after a lengthy illness. We rejoice that Don accepted Jesus and is now home in Heaven.

Born in Lancaster, PA, Don was the son of the late Dorothy (Cunningham) Frankhouser and Elmer Morrison King. He was the devoted husband of Barbara (Galebach) King, they were married for 37 years.

A 1969 graduate of JP McCaskey High School, Don furthered his education at various technical schools, showcasing his desire to learning. Prior to retirement, he worked as a facilities maintenance technician at PrecisionForm Incorporated. When living in California he serviced the copy machines at Lockheed Martin during the development of the Stealth Bomber.

Don was a man of unique talents and creativity, known for his ability to design and fix nearly anything with precision and detail. Whether building decks, crafting fences, or designing and creating leaded lampshades. Don was a member of the 8th Ward Club and a man of varied interests. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and cheering on the Miami Dolphins and the New York Yankees. His favorite fishing spot was the Susquehanna River in Halifax, PA, camping in the Blue Mountains of PA, and beach at Ocean City, MD.

He was also a animal lover, and his heart remained devoted to his beloved feline buddy, Jasper, with whom he will be laid to rest.

Don is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; his siblings: Sandra Scheller of Williamstown, PA, Wanda Frease of Lancaster, PA Dawn Winebarger of Manheim PA, and Cindy (Cynthia) Fisher of Lancaster, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister and brother, Carrie May and David.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Don’s life at Charles F. Snyder III Funeral Home and Crematory, 2421 Willow Street Pike, Willow Street, PA 17584 on Monday, January 27, 2025. Visitation will take place at 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM.

Dear Barb- my deepest sympathy to you on the loss of your beloved Don. He was so fortunate to have you especially in the past few months that were so challenging for both of you. Your devotion in caring for him was always so evident. I recall you sharing with me when Don accepted Jesus as his savior and  he is now free from the suffering he endured. The best memory of Don is when he helped my  dog Princess who was ill and could not walk. He lifted her into the back of my car so I could take her to PET emergency. It was good to know he loved animals, especially Jasper his feline friend with whom he will be laid to rest. My prayers and support are with you at this time of grief. How good to know that those who have placed their trust in Christ alone are not without hope. As scripture says: “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord”. So glad you are my wonderful neighbor.
