Doris C. Wright, aged 94, passed away on Monday, October 9, 2023, at Luther Acres in Lititz, Pennsylvania. She was born in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late Joseph E. Henkel and Ruth L. Mathaney.

Doris was preceded in death by her beloved husband, the late Thomas R. Wright.

Doris spent her last 17 years at Luther Acres in Lititz, where she not only made her residence but also many lasting friendships. She found a sense of community and companionship that enriched her life during her time there.

Although she embraced her life in Lititz, her heart always remained deeply connected to Baltimore, Maryland. It was the city where she was born and where she carried cherished memories of her earlier years.

Doris was an avid reader throughout her life, especially of books about history. She found great joy in visiting Ocean City, Maryland, where the sea breeze and the sound of the waves brought her serenity. She also possessed a sweet tooth for ice cream and a passion for shopping. She had a quick wit, which never failed to bring smiles and laughs to those around her. Her greatest source of joy was spending time with her family, and she cherished these moments dearly.

Doris is survived by her loving daughters, Janice Wright of Lititz and Gail Allen, wife of Dennis of Lititz. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Amanda Miller (Cole), Jessica Bicker (Steve), and Laura Lessig (Kyle), as well as three great-grandchildren, Jocelyn, Cohen, and Evelyn. She is further survived by her brother, Joseph Henkel of South Berwick, Maine.

A private graveside service will be held at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum in Timonium, Maryland.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Masonic Village, 98 Masonic Drive, Suite 101, Elizabethtown, PA 17022, in honor of Doris.

Doris C. Wright’s legacy of love, wit, and the joy she brought to her family will be forever cherished. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
