Dr. Albert Charles Price passed peacefully on December 9, 2024 in Lititz, Pennsylvania at the age of 92. Born in Philadelphia on September 26, 1932 to Dr. Thomas Horner Price and Kathryn Redmond Price, Dr. Price grew up there with his two siblings, Dr. James Price and Elizabeth Jardel.
Dr. Price was married to his beloved wife, Beverly Haas Price, for 64 years before she passed in 2021. He met Beverly at Friends Hospital when she was a student nurse and he was a psychiatric aide. They were married at Christ Church and St. Michael’s Episcopal in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1957, and they went on to have five children.
Upon graduating from LaSalle College, Dr. Price joined the U.S. Navy in 1956. In 1959, he graduated from Jefferson Medical School and served as a pediatric physician with the Navy in Philadelphia, Norfolk, San Diego, Charleston, Boston, and Rockville. He later co-founded Roseville Pediatrics and practiced at Lancaster General Hospital. In 1973, he was elected to a fellowship with the American College of Cardiology, specializing in pediatrics. In 1983, Dr. Price retired from the Navy as a Captain.
For decades, Dr. Price dedicated himself to providing compassionate care for the children of Lancaster County. Recognizing his impressive career, Dr. Price was honored as Pennsylvania’s Pediatrician of the Year in 2001. He also received accolades and awards from the Lancaster Bureau of Fire, PennState Children’s Hospital, Lancaster City and County Medical Society, and the American Trauma Society for his many contributions to the health and safety of his community.
In retirement, Dr. Price remained dedicated to helping Lancaster’s youth, visiting schools with The Retired Officers Association, and staying active with the Lancaster County Safe Kids Coalition, a local safety initiative he helped to establish.
Dr. Price also cared for the welfare of animals, rescuing many greyhounds with his wife, Beverly. His other hobbies included deep-sea fishing, traveling, sports, and collecting antiques.
Dr. Price is survived by his children, Ruth Kenyon, Kimberly Frankhouser, Thomas, Patricia Miller, and David; his daughters-in-law, Audrey and Laura; and his sons-in-law, Christopher, David, and Michael. He also is survived by his grandchildren, Christopher, Melissa, Jessica, Emily, Harrison, Sarah, Rebecca, Natalie, Katlyn, Kevin, and Hope; and great-grandchildren, Gabriella, Phoebe, Evelyn, Lucy, Ellis, and Eden.

Dr. Price, he saved my life multiple times. He saw me through being dehydrated with the flu and needing to be sent to the ER, to the farm safety day camo he had. He was someone I loved and I respected. He truly made an impact in this world on countless people and children.
He’s a treasure and someone I know I often talk about. His greyhounds he would share with me about his love for them. I was often a frequent child at the practice. He was truly the best.
I didn’t know or I would’ve been there.

We just learned of the passing of Dr. Price. He was the pediatrician of choice for our three sons (now in their thirties) and was a true gem. He personally cared about his patients and gave me the confidence in raising our middle son who has Down Syndrome. When our son had pneumonia, Dr. Price told me he knew my son would get better care at home with my personal attention than in the hospital. He calmed my fears with his matter-of-fact approach. He even invited us to his retirement party and later sent our son a postcard from his vacation. Our condolences to his family. We have many fond memories of Dr. Price and he will be missed.

Dr. Price was one of the most caring doctors I worked with and my own children’s pediatrician. He had a giant heart when it came to the care of a child. He was an amazing physician and dedicated professional. My condolences to his family. God bless you Dr. Price.

Our sympathy to Dr. Price’s family. He was our 3 sons physician and a wonderful man who cared. My wife sent me a note that says it all “Mac would not be alive today if Dr. Price was not his physician. He was the wind beneath my wings taking care of Mac!” He meant the world to us, our third son Price carries his name on. We are so greatful that he was a important part of their lives. My deepest sympathy to Al’s family. He taught me when I was an intern at LGH, referred his patient’s when I came back to town as an attending and took care of my boys as their pediatrician over the years. He always looked a bit disheveled in his dress but in his mind he was sharp and always focused on his patients and their pathology. He made a big impact on the medical care in Lancaster County and he will be missed. You will all be in my thoughts and prayers. Dr. Gerald Rothacker

We are writing to express sympathy to the Price family as well as appreciation for the compassionate care of Dr. Price. One memory–among many others–stands out. One December 23 I took our young daughter to an appointment with Dr. Price. He diagnosed the illness and prescribed medicine. On December 24, late afternoon, the phone rang–it was Dr. Price, calling to see how she was doing. I was so surprised–it was Christmas Eve, and I knew Dr. Price had several children of his own who were likely waiting for their father to get home. But that was Dr. Price–consummate professional and caring individual. He always went beyond professional requirements and expectations. We are so grateful that our daughters had the privilege of being patients of Dr. Price!

He was the funniest kindest man I ever met. He taught me a lot even though I was only a nurses aide. What else can I say except he was loved by all.

I am so sorry for the loss of Dr. Price. I will be forever grateful for his compassion and wisdom. He diagnosed both of my boys heart murmurs and holes in their hearts. Because of that my boys were treated-one required open heart surgery. I wanted you to know he made such a difference in this world. Praying the Lord will comfort your family at this very sad time.

Dr. Price was a fine man and one of the finest physicians i ever had the privilege of working with. I was just making arrangements to visit him when I learned of his passing. My husband and I visited him several times during his residence at the Landis Homes. He often spoke of missing his beloved wife, Beverly. During one visit i brought 2 of my grandsons and he really enjoyed that, saying he missed seeing children around. I had great respect and affection for Dr. Price. To his children and grandchildren I express my sympathy. May his memory always be a blessing.
