Mary and family, I am so sorry to see of Hal’s passing. I knew him when I was an undergraduate at Millersville. He chose to be a mentor for this young and naive girl and helped me through many difficult years. He was a very special man and I am appreciative of the help and support he offered me. I am so sorry to see of his passing

I just read about Harold’s passing. I spent 4 years with him at the University of Pennsylvania and I found him to be one of the finest human beings and considered him to be a true friend. He would spend one night each week at my tiny appartment before our classes. We first would have the same breakfast together on campus after driving to Penn. One day I was moving to another apartment and when I walked to my car there was Harold who, without my asking, had driven in from Lancaster loaded with boxes to help me move. I cannot tell you how much I will miss my friend and ask that you accept my sincerest condolonces.

Harold was a wonderful friend who will be forever admired and remembered with deep joy and love. He remained bright and filled with sass and laughter even in the face of adversity. He always showed strength and courage and deep love for his family and was a wonderful example to all. Cheers, Harold! We love you! Yinda and Peter Ketterling-Rollitt

We met Harold as we were taking our daily walk along the canal…passing by their townhouse in Ocean City, MD. We soon became friends and discovered our mutual interests, particularly animals and politics. Our discussions were always thoughtful and stimulating. For us, Harold will always be remembered as very bright, interesting and having a quick sense of humor.Rest in Peace Harold,Bill & Judy Spicer

Mary (and family): I had the privilege of working for Harold for many, many years in the Counseling Center at Millersville University. He was a boss, mentor and friend. It would be impossible to count the number of students who passed through our office who might not have made it to graduation had it not been for Harold. He was one in a million. I know that he will be missed. Take care. Becky Vickers-Gross
