Dr. Richard Wayne Spore, 74

Dr. Richard Wayne Spore, 74 of Lititz, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on September 14, 2023. He was born in Austin, Texas on December 30, 1948 to his parents Harry and Emma (Blank) Spore.
Richard attended the University of Tennessee for his undergraduate studies and also graduated at the top of his class from the College of Medicine in 1974. He was a physician for nearly 50 years. He worked in several states and helped save thousands of lives throughout his career.
Richard and his wife moved to Lititz in 1995 to build his dream home that he would raise his children in. He loved to travel and visited over 30 countries in his lifetime. He embraced his German heritage and enjoyed going to Oktoberfest. Richard was an avid reader and wrote many short stories and a novel. He loved animals and cared for many horses, dogs, and cats throughout his life.
He is survived by his wife Julie Ann (Tillery) Spore of 35 years, three children Richard “Andrew” Spore (Lorena) of Parkland, Florida, Tiffany Brill (Jason) of Ephrata, Pennsylvania, Dr. Kelly Hurley (Derek) of Monticello, Florida, two stepchildren Eric Wright (Shannon) of Roswell, Georgia and Kristin Wright of Knoxville, Tennessee and five step-grandchildren Olivia, Tyler and Claire Wright and Lucas and Camila Gonzalez. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Dr. Stephen Spore, grandparents and beloved Aunt Wanda and Uncle Arthur Freynick.
The family gives their appreciation to his hospice team for their love and care of Richard. He was put to rest at Witness Park Cemetery on Friday, September 22, 2023. In lieu of flowers, we ask for donations to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (Delaware Valley Chapter, cff.org) or Humane Pennsylvania (2195 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster, PA, humanepa.org) in his honor.
