Earl L. Harrison, Jr.
July 31, 2014
Earl L. Harrison Jr, of Columbia, died Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Susquehanna Nursing and Rehab Center in Columbia.
Born in Lancaster, he was the husband of Helen C. (Eyler) Harrison, to whom he was married 62 years. He was the son of the late Earl L. Harrison Sr. and Edna (Murray) Harrison.
Earl was a member of Hempfield United Methodist Church. He was a former member of the Lancaster Cosmopolitan Club, and a lifetime member of Elks Lodge #134, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, NRA and a current member of F&AM Blue Lodge #43.
He worked as a division manager for Sears Roebuck for 42 years until his retirement.
Earl loved to play and watch sports; his favorite teams being the Philadelphia Eagles and the St. Louis Cardinals. When he wasn’t involved in sports, he was either hunting or fishing at his camp in the mountains that now belongs to his grandchildren. Spending time with his family was precious to him, especially building gingerbread houses with them at Christmas.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons Earl L Harrison III and Scott T. Harrison and his wife Jean, all of Columbia; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Carolyn Bunteman and her husband Elwood of Blain, PA. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Harrison, and a sister, Shirley Shultz.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Hempfield UMC, 3050 Marietta Ave, Lancaster with Pastor Bruce Lefever officiating. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery at 1:30 PM.
