Edward Albert Henne, 73

September 10, 2024

Edward Albert Henne, 73, of Frogtown Road, Pequea passed away peacefully with his beloved wife Joyce by his side on Tuesday, September 10, 2024. He was born on January 30, 1951, in Lancaster, the son of the late Harvey L. Henne and Evelyn Harlacker Henne.

He graduated from Lampeter-Strasburg High School, Lancaster where he participated in baseball. His love of the game carried over into his adult years when he played on softball leagues within the community. He also enjoyed golfing. He would travel almost every year to play golf in Myrtle Beach, SC. After years of playing softball and golf, he retired his bat, glove and clubs, but continued to enjoy watching sports through his grandchildren. He was always willing to play catch, practice batting and give tips on how to play the game. He was always there to love and show his support.

Ed was the proud owner of Henne Electric, which he ran successfully for over 30 years. His business was a family affair, with his sons working alongside him throughout the years. Ed was hardworking and dedicated to providing for his family.

Ed spent 53 loving years married to Joyce, the love of his life. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, for over four decades. Ed was deeply committed to his faith and church community. He lived a life of service, always putting his family and others first.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Joyceann; his children: Nathan (Kelly)Henne of Clinton, UT, David (Rebecca) Henne of Purcellville, VA, Steven (Bernadette)Henne of Mount Joy, and Heather (Tom) McElroy of Pequea; 13 grandchildren and one great- grandchild. He is also survived by his brothers Daniel (Sue) Henne and Allen Henne. In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by his brother Paul Henne.

A funeral service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1210 E King St, Lancaster, PA 17602, on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 11:00 AM. Family invites friends to a viewing that will take place one hour prior to service.

Ed will be remembered for his devotion to his faith, family and community, and his legacy of love, hard work and service.

Eddie! Great man, taught me electric and got me started in my own business. Common sense in his life and work. He hit a ridiculous home run off of me when we were playing hardball. It went straight over my head thankfully! Blessings to Joyce and all the children.

Joyce, this news hit me hard today and although we know that it’s something that is a part of our mortal  lives, to lose a great friend like Ed is something I will truly struggle with for some time to come. I loved him like both of my own two brothers who I lost some years ago.
May the good Lord bless you and your children and grandchildren that you might find comfort in knowing that you will most certainly see him again and will then have eternity to spend together, simply because of the life you shared together and the the love and dedication you both served in the church and in helping others whenever a need arose.
We will keep you all in our prayers, as I’m sure a great many others will as well.

I had the opportunity to work for Ed on 9/11/2001. I was helping him rewire an office in the Greist Building. He had to go to a church in Little Britain to repair an alarm. I’ve known Brother Ed for decades. I will miss him and hope to see him again someday. My love to his family.

Joyce and family.  I was so sad to read Ed’s obituary in the paper.  I remember him as such a kind soft spoken man. He had a wonderful testimony of the gospel.  Please accept my condolences on his passing.

Our deepest sympathies to the Henne family, Got to know “Big Ed” through fast-pitch softball, was a real pleasure to call him my teammate and friend. The longest homerun I ever saw hit came off his bat at strasburg park, we still talk about that one !  his calmness, chuckle, and ever-present smile will always be remembered. RIP Ed. you will be missed !!    Larry / Karen Phillips
