Eileen P. Burns, 85
Eileen P. Burns, 85, of New Providence, PA, passed away on Saturday evening, January 8, 2011 at the Essa Flory Hospice Center in Lancaster.
She was the wife of the late Edward F. Burns, who passed away in 2000. Born in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of the late John McHenry and Anna Dineen McHenry.
Eileen had been a homemaker extraordinaire and avid reader. She enjoyed puzzles and latch crocheting and especially loved spending time with her family.
She was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church.
Eileen is survived by her children: Edward G. married to Claire Burns of New Providence, John P. Burns and Kevin M. married to Judy Burns, both of Central Islip, NY, Christopher P. married to Kathy Burns of Albany, NY, Gerard J. Burns of New Providence, Matthew J. Burns of Sayville, NY, Mark S. married to Maureen Burns of Jamestown, NC, Mary Ellen married to Tony Donnadio of Ronkonkoma, NY, Eileen N. Burns of Central Islip, Elizabeth Ann Burns companion of Hermel Page of Brentwood, NY, Joseph G. married to Erica Burns of Toano, VA, and Patricia Ann married to Layne Plompen of Sayville; her beloved 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, and her sister, Joan McHenry of Valley Stream, NY.
Friends will be received at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 441 N. George St., Millersville, PA on Thursday, January 13, 2011 from 7-9PM, with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 830PM. The family will again receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, January 14, 2011from 845AM to 945AM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11AM at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 955 Robert Fulton Hwy., Quarryville, PA, with interment to follow in St. Catherine’s Cemetery. We are sorry to hear of the passing of Ms. Burns. Although we did not know Eileen well, I myself lost my mother, Ailsa, in 2007, so I understand the grief and stRess that the loss of a loved one can have on the family.
