May 01, 2024
Elizabeth Ann Rodriguez “Betty”, 74, of Lancaster, passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2024.
She was the wife of the late Israel M. Rodriguez, who passed away in 2009. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Clayton G. and Anna A. Keath Eshelman, and was raised by the late Henry and Mim Minnich.
Betty had worked for Community Action Partnership (CAP) for 34 years, beginning as a Head Start teacher and retiring as the Transportation Manager. She also loved being a stay at home mom.
She enjoyed traveling to Atlantic City and Niagara Falls with her late husband Israel in years past. She collected clown figurines, enjoyed listening to Spanish music and really enjoyed cooking her Spanish style food, but what she loved the most is being dedicated to her family and especially her great grandchildren.
Betty is survived by her daughters: Christine E. Rodriguez married to Carlos Roa and Margarita E. Rodriguez partner of Harry Figueroa, both of Lancaster; her 4 grandchildren Jason, Charmilia, Brittany, and Alysa; and her 2 great grandchildren Jaslynn and Zion. She was preceded in death by her 10 siblings.

Dear Family of Betty,
Praying that happy memories of Betty fill your spirits with comfort. My memories of her are wonderful. I worked with Betty in the early 1980’s at the Francine Bunch Head Start Center on Pershing Avenue in Lancaster. The entire staff at the time became like a big family. Betty was so kind and fun-loving and was excellent to work with. She loved and cared for the children. I am so sorry for your sadness. She loved her family so much. I pray for peace in your hearts. God bless you all.
Sincerely,
Loretta Valle

I met Miss Betty through Head Start 25 years ago when I started at Head Start. Miss Betty was a wonderful woman who gave so much to Lancaster Head Start and will forever be a legend to that program.

Betty you will be gratefully missed as a Great Friend and Co-worker. Loved playing cards at your house with the gang from Head Start. Loved your Rice and beans. Loved going to Nancy’s son’s cabin and the beach with the gang from Head Start. Loved your friendship and Love that we had together.
