Elizabeth Ann Frederick Huyett

December 19, 2024

It is with deep sadness that we announce Elizabeth Huyett passed away on December 19, 2024, surrounded by her family at Lancaster General Hospital.

Liz is an irreplaceable mother, wife, sister, aunt, and friend. Some knew her as Liz, others as Buffy–but to all, she was a pillar of generosity and strength, and her quick wit and warm aura made her both effortlessly hilarious and a comforting presence. Liz loved fiercely, and no one more than her boys: she was a devoted wife to her husband, Jesse Huyett, and a proud mother to her sons, Carson and Chase, who embody the very best of who she was. Their family was the center of her universe, and Liz was dedicated to sharing her giving spirit with her boys, instilling in them the importance of kindness, compassion, and finding goodness almost anywhere.

Born on June 2, 1970, Liz grew up traipsing around Lititz with the rest of the Heagy-Frederick kids. Liz received both a Bachelor’s degree and a husband from her time at Millersville University. After spending time in Washington, D.C., Liz and Jesse moved back to Pennsylvania, where she pursued a career in admissions for local retirement communities. Liz was a true humanitarian who quietly and selflessly served her community, often spending her time volunteering and giving back in whatever way she could. Her intelligence and passion for serving disadvantaged individuals made her an incredible advocate for both her clients and anyone else she recognized to have unmet needs. Liz was smart, outspoken, and brave–and her essence left an unwavering mark on all who knew her.

Liz will be greatly missed by her husband of twenty-three years, Jesse; her sons, Carson and Chase; her siblings, Phillip Heagy, Winfield Heagy and his wife Elizabeth, Jacquelynn Brandsema-Heagy and her husband Arjan, Lori Frederick Biddle, and Lu Anne Leh; her nieces and nephew, Fei, Tessa, Kate, Luka, and Amber; her dear friend, Kelly, to whom she was bonded ‘like superglue’; and her lifelong group of friends who she lovingly referred to as her ‘squad’.

If you feel called to give in honor of Liz’s memory, please kindly omit flowers and instead consider a donation to the Pet Pantry of Lancaster County, or the Humane Pennsylvania Lancaster Adoption Center (from where she adopted her best friend until the end, Flynn).

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

I was so sorry to hear of Buffy’s passing. We went to Warwick and graduated together.  I remember her quick wit and her kindness and love for animals. My deepest sympathy to her husband, children, family and friends. Gone too soon but May her memories give you comfort.

Dearest Jesse, Carson & Chase,
There are no words that can truly describe how sorry Charles, Caitlyn, Lily, Charlie and I are for your eternal loss. Buff was such an amazing daughter, sister, aunt, friend…and especially wife and MOM. Her “tell-it-like-it-is” approach was very similar to my style and, thus, some of what I believe make people laugh or chuckle upon hearing. No doubt she will be missed tremendously – taken home too soon.
The only slight assurance is that Buff is in heaven with her mom, our mom & all those close to you who have gone before us…who love her so!
Two memories I have specifically of Buff- one was when she and your boys joined us for dinner at TGI Fridays in December 2019 (i think). She was fun-loving, shared many laughs with us and encouraged us to check out Hersey Park gift store vs going to the park. We did!! …and our pockets, plus my lack of stamina to deal with a park… were grateful to Buff!
The other wonderful memory that I have is of Buff and Carson driving down to visit Kathleen the evening before she passed. My mom adored Buff and felt sad years ago when Buff was originally diagnosed with cancer. I think Buff’s approach and incredible will to fight inspired Kathleen to try and do the same.
I will be thinking of you and the boys so often. We send our deepest condolences during this very difficult Christmas season.
To Jackie, Win & Phil…
I’m so very sorry for the loss of your beloved and fiercely awesome sister. You’ll hear her voice in the wind, take comfort in the memories of your life with Buff. Her legacy and legit humor will be incredibly missed. Jackie- no idea how gut wrenching losing your sister must be… my heart especially goes out to you.
Sending love and so many prayers,
The Ferrer Family (Liz’s sister)

I can’t express how much this saddens me. Being I know her as Buffy indicates our relationship in the neighborhood as kids. She truly was “effortlessly funny” her humor definitely was a family trait.
Her presence will be missed greatly  & I pray for the strength her family needs.
