Elizabeth Ann Williams, 84
November 23, 2020
Elizabeth Ann Williams, known as Betty Ann, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 23, 2020. She was born on July 8, 1936 in Minersville, PA, to the late John Harvilla Jr. and Elizabeth Brennan Harvilla.
Upon graduating Minersville High School, she was Secretary to the Principal there, while also working for Harvilla and Son’s Beverage Distributor in Minersville, PA. In 1960, after marrying her high school sweetheart, Richard Hayes Williams Sr., known as Dick, the two moved to West Chester, PA where Betty Ann worked at Wyeth Pharmaceutical Laboratories before starting a family.
After having her first three children, she and her family moved to Lancaster, PA, where Dick worked for a local pharmacy and eventually purchased the business, soon to be known as Williams Apothecary. Thereafter, Betty Ann had her fourth child, while continuing to work for Williams Apothecary, as an accounts receivable specialist, for the next 47 years. Betty Ann was also an active 53-year member of St. Anthony’s of Padua Catholic Church and the Legion of Mary, a long time Eucharistic Minister, and Treasurer for Lancaster Pharmacist Association Ladies Auxiliary.
Betty Ann loved her family – it was her everything. Gatherings, dinners, vacations, cards, grandkids’ sporting events, and treating her grandkids to an ice cream, were among her favorite things. She had a unique ability to make everyone feel at home; sharing the warmest love with those around her.
Betty Ann is survived by her husband, Richard Hayes Williams Sr. of Lancaster and her four children: son, Richard & Kathleen Williams Jr. of Cary, North Carolina, daughter, Elizabeth Williams-Snyder & Darin Snyder of Lancaster, daughter, Louise Williams-Miller & Jeff Miller of Lancaster, and son, Paul & Lisa Williams of Elizabethtown.
She was blessed with many grandchildren: Lindsay Elizabeth Williams-Levesque, Trey R. Williams, Olivia A. Williams, Isabel L. Miller, Reece J. Snyder, Luke J. Miller, Alex P. Williams, Quinn H. Snyder, and a great-granddaughter, Hannah Elizabeth Levesque. All are incredibly lucky to have had a grandmother like her, but the years together will never be enough.
She is also survived by four siblings: sister Mary Lou Harvilla-Skelly, wife of Ed Skelly of Amelia, OH and brothers, John Harvilla, husband of Diane Harvilla of Minersville, PA, Paul (Bud) Harvilla and Teresa Harvilla of Minersville, PA, and Lee Harvilla, husband of Mary Ann Harvilla of Mountain Top, PA.
Betty Ann was a maternal force that will be terribly missed. She gave so much and asked so little. May we appreciate one another a bit more during her favorite season.
A funeral mass will be held at a future date.

Dick, You have been a respected mentor and friend for a very long time. Debi and My lives have very much mirrored the lives of you and Betty; building a pharmacy together, and them trying to keep us straight. They had to be wonderful, patient women to get us throuigh all of life’s challenges. Our hearts go ou to you. Very sincerely, Jeff and Debi Stauffer

Dick, Louise, Beth, Paul and Richard. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during these difficult days. Betty was always so kind to my dad when she visited him at Evergreen Estates as one of the Eucharistic Ministers. He would always tell me how she took time to see how he was doing. I really appreciated her kindness.

To the Williams family, there are few words that can take away the pain related to the loss of a special person. Yet, please know Mrs. Williams will always be remembered for her consistent kindness and smile. From May Day at St. Anthony’s all those years ago to LCHS graduation in 2019, she was always there-smiling and supporting her family and others. I hope the beam of light she would shine out to others bathes you in your grief, soothes you and eases your sorrow a bit. Thinking of you, Suzanne Besecker

Dick and the entire Williams Family,
Betty Ann will surely be missed by family and friends. I have fond memories of you and Betty Ann being the cooler older kids while the Harvilla boys and myself were getting into mischief. Seems like yesterday! My wife really enjoyed spending some time with you both and getting the skinny on Lee and myself. Our heartfelt condolences.

Dick, Richard, Beth, Louise, and Paul,
My heart is heavy this morning. Betty Ann was a beautiful, kind person. Every time she and my Mother were together the years seem to fade away and their forever friendship shined through. My memories of Betty Ann are how happy our Moms were when they were together.
