Elizabeth (Betty) Choate Kane, 79
May 21, 2017
Elizabeth (Betty) Choate Kane got her wings on May 21, 2017 due to heart complications. She was born in her childhood home in Monson, Maine in Piscataquis County on August 12, 1937. She married Joseph G. Kane, Jr of Collegeville, Pennsylvania on September 13, 1958. They raised their children in the house they built on Yellow Hill Road in Lancaster County, PA for 42 years before downsizing last year and moving to Ephrata, PA to be closer to their oldest son.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Carlisle Edward and Barbara Beane Choate, her sister, Nancy Hanna, her two half brothers, Edward and Willard Choate, and their spouses.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Joseph G Kane, Jr, their four children, Joseph G Kane, III husband of Kimberly, Elizabeth K Rosenberg former wife of Brian, Timothy P Kane husband of Colleen, Ame K Fox, wife of Todd and her eight grandchildren, Joseph Kane, Galen Kane, Ryan Kane, John Kane, Keara Fox, Kateri Rosenberg, Andrew Kane, and Alyssa Fox, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Betty graduated from Montgomery Hospital School of Nursing in 1958 and worked as a Registered Nurse for most of her life. She was endlessly performing acts of kindness, from saving a child of abuse from the trunk of a car to providing home and assistance to families that had none. She was an accomplished artist and her love of Maine and family inspired many of her creations. Her remarkable creativity was reflected in her sewing, knitting, crocheting, and particularly painting skills. She and her husband, Joe, raised four successful children. She cherished the time she spent with her family, from throwing massive picnics to simply baking with her granddaughters. Her pride, love, and devotion to her family was immeasurable.
