Elsie “Mae” H. Witmer, 93
Elsie “Mae” H. Witmer, 93, formerly of East Petersburg, died at Cross Keys Village, The Brethren Home Community, New Oxford, on Wednesday, April 24, 2019. She was the wife of the late Robert B. Witmer, who died in 2003.
Elsie Mae graduated from Manheim Township High School. She was Drum Major with the band for several years.
A homemaker, she was an accomplished seamstress. She had also worked for Plastino & Owens.
Elsie Mae taught Sunday school and was an active member of the Ladies Aid Society at Neffsville United Methodist church. She and Bob also created the church bus ministry. Later, she attended Westgate Baptist Church.
Born in Neffsville, she was the daughter of the late Tobias F. and Elsie (Fenninger) Herr. Elsie Mae is survived by her children, Patricia Kreider of Texas, Nancy W. Becker of Hanover, Robert T. Witmer of York Haven and Susan M. Fortna-Miller of Ephrata; nine grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson. She was preceded in death by six brothers and a sister.
There will be a viewing on Thursday, May 2, 2019 from 10 until 11 AM in the Bachman Funeral Home, 7 South Decatur Street, Strasburg, PA. The funeral will be at 11:00 AM with Pastor Mike Anderson officiating. Interment in the Strasburg Cemetery will follow the service.
