Ernest “Larry” Mathena, 84

Ernest “Larry” Mathena, 84, of Lancaster passed away Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Lancashire Hall. Born in Princeton, WV he was the son of the late Robert and Carlyn Gay (O’Connor) Mathena. His wife, Thelma Mathena passed away in 1977.

He worked for the former Trojan Boat Co. where he served as the vice president. He was an avid Phillies fan and enjoyed classical music.
Larry proudly served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by three daughters, Mary Hanna wife of Ron of Landisville, Julia Moss of Manchaca, TX, Patricia Mathena of Janesville, WI; three sons, Larry Mathena husband of Ronel of Newport Beach, CA, Daniel Calderon Mathena of Houston, TX, David E. Mathena of Philadelphia, seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Frieda Hilgartner, and three brothers, Lonnie, Leroy and Robert Mathena. He was preceded in death by a son, David Andrew Mathena and three sisters, June, Gay and Keleene.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2PM on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA. Interment will follow in St. Thomas Episcopal Church Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Ernest’s memory to the Benjamin Wellness Center, c/o 3954 Birchwood Ln, Columbia, PA 17512.
