Ernst F. Aschenbach, Jr., 75, of Lititz passed away in the comfort of his home on Monday, September 19, 2016. He was the loving husband of Kathleen (Mooney) Aschenbach to whom he was married for 33 years.
Born in Hanover, NH he was the son of the late Ernst F. Sr. and Mary Elizabeth (Ingham) Aschenbach. Ernst retired after 30 years with RCA where he was an electrician. He loved spending time outdoors, was an avid reader and was a handyman and jack of all trades. Ernst enjoyed metal work, gunsmithing, spending time with his friends and family and always helped others before himself. He always cared deeply for his neighbors and had a keen sense of humor and was a member of the Honey Brook Masonic Lodge.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his sons Eric T. Aschenbach husband of Kristina and Ernst F. Aschenbach, III both of Richmond, VA; one sister Gretchen Baker of Norwich, VT and seven nieces and nephews Beth Perry-Reed of Norwich, VT, Rebecca Sheehan of Larchmont, NY, Lorelie Lauer of Northport, FL, Rachel Holdridge of Ephrata, PA, Michael Mooney of Las Vegas, NV, Joseph Kurtz, Jr. of Lancaster, PA and Christopher Kurtz of Hummelstown, PA.
A Visitation Gathering will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2016 from 1-3PM from the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike Lititz, PA 17543. Interment will be held privately.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice & Community Care, 685 Good Dr. P.O. Box 4125 Lancaster, PA 17604 or to The Four Diamonds Fund, 90 Hope Dr. #1103 Hershey, PA 17033 in his memory.
The family would like to give special thanks to Rachel Holdridge and Rebecca Sheehan for their care during Ernst’s final days and Melinda Nelson and the staff of the Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute and the staff of Hospice & Community Care for the care of Ernst over the past few months.
