Esther M. Ebright, 101, passed away on February 14, 2024 at Brethren Village in Lititz, PA. Esther was born in 1922 in Weavertown, Lebanon County to Erwin D. Wagner and Elizabeth McCurdy Wagner. She graduated from Lebanon Senior High School in 1940 and from Lebanon Valley College in 1944 where she majored in Biology/Chemistry.

During WWII, Esther worked at Winthrop Stearns in Myerstown and at Wyeth Laboratories in Marietta. She married her childhood sweetheart, Harvey W. Ebright of Anacortes, Washington, and Carol A. Ebright of Lititz, PA.

Esther raised her family and assisted Harvey while he attended college, seminary, and served Evangelical United Brethren and United Methodist churches in southeastern PA, and in Ithaca, Ohio. She also taught school, first biology at Bradford High School in Ohio, and then Special Education in the Cornwall-Lebanon School District. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lancaster, PA.

Esther had a rich and busy life and loved nature, traveling, camping, hiking, gardening, and bird-watching. She enjoyed woodworking, fixing things, and adapting items to new uses.

Esther’s sisters Ruth Lupien and Florence Grumbine Hickernell are both deceased. Esther is survived by nieces and nephews David Grumbine (Joan) of Radnor, PA; Alfred Lupien (Donna) of Hartford, South Dakota; and Myrle Scott of Magnolia, Delaware.

A service to remember and honor Esther will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at 11 AM at Brethren Village Chapel, 3009 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. Family will receive guests beginning at 10 AM. A luncheon will immediately follow the service. Interment will be held at Grand View Memorial Park in Annville, PA. Dear family I am writing on behalf of my mother-in-law Ferne Soulliard. She was Harvey’s cousin and often recalled visits with Harvey and Esther the last being at their home in the retirement village. We pray for God’s peace and comfort to be with your family at this time.

Dear Family, So sorry to learn of Esther’s death.  She was a very special person. I only knew her through First United Methodist Church. Met her when Harvey was alive.   Esther was in the same circle that I belonged to — Susannah Circle. She had told me that her mother lived a long time also. I pray for your comfort and peace.  May the Lord be with you.  Martha Adams

Carol, I’m sorry to hear about the loss of your mother, Esther. She was one of my favorite residents when I worked at Brethren Village. She would love to go for walks and was always eager to go. Esther would show me her collection of picture albums and all the places she visited, she sure did get to visit some awesome places.
She had a full and productive life and you can enjoy the memories you had with her. Sending thoughts of comfort to you today. Connie Lerch

Dear Carol; I am sorry for the loss of your mother. I will always remember Your mom as a very wonderful woman. I met her at First United Methodist Church. I visited your mom and dad in their home before moving to Bretheran .,and saw her until covid.
This is a difficult time  for you. It will be hard but as time goes on hopefully you and your sister can laugh at some of the memories with your mom.   She always loved and remembered your trip to Iceland.
Love and Blessings
