Eva L. Longsderff, 90
January 14, 2025
Eva LaRayne Daubert Longsderff was born May 16, 1934, to the late George E. and Minnie Wagner Daubert in Suedberg, Pine Grove Twp, Schuylkill, Pennsylvania. She was the youngest of seven children which included three brothers and three sisters. She was the last surviving member of her siblings.
Eva is survived by her son, David R. Longsderff, married to Brenda L Longsderff, Columbia, PA; daughter, Sandra A. Schaeffer, married to Clark S. Schaeffer, Ephrata, PA. She is also survived by her five grandchildren; Andrew Longsderff; Joshua Longsderff, married to Kelly Longsderff; Kristen Smith, married to Levi Smith; Benjamin Schaeffer and Grant Schaeffer. Eva was blessed with two great grandchildren: Daxton Longsderff and Joanna Smith.
Eva graduated from Pine Grove High School, class of 1952. She was an excellent soloist and served on several class committees.
Following graduation, she worked at Nationwide Insurance in Harrisburg, PA as an underwriter. She married Richard W. Longsderff on November 28, 1953, who was serving in the US Navy.
In 1956, they moved to Angola, Indiana for Richard to attend Engineering school at Tri-State University. Eva worked as a waitress and grocery store checker to help put Richard through college.
In 1958 Eva gave birth to her son David R. Longsderff and upon graduation she and her family moved to Lancaster, PA for employment with RCA. Their daughter Sandra was born in 1961.
Eva was very active in the Lancaster First Church of God, having served 50 years as a choir member, President of the Women’s Council and served at the conference Camp (Doubling Gap Center/Yolijwa) and on Youth Committees.
Her main passion was for the elderly, shut-ins of the church. She lead a Visitation Team for many years and spent countless hours going to all of the nursing homes to visit the shut-ins.
Eva was a strong woman of Christian faith. She managed her household and made sure her children were in line better than any military general. Her hobbies included knitting; puzzle books; reading; cooking, canning the fruits and vegetables produced from Richard’s garden and keeping up with her five grandchildren’s lives.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a viewing at Spacht-Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory, 127 S. Broad Street, Lititz, PA, on Friday, January 17, 2025, from 5:00-7:00 PM and Saturday from 9:00-10:00 AM. We look forward to seeing Jesus in Heaven. Now Eva is there with Dick and enjoying peace and love. Someday we will see her again. She was a wonderful example to me, using her gifts for serving God.

Greetings everyone I won’t make it Saturday for the service but I wanted to express my appreciation for Eva’s friendliness to me, a Wycliffe missionary, when I was at First Church of God. I enjoyed getting to know her in prayer meetings, the choir, and in the women’s ministry. I know she is thrilled to meet Jesus and be with Dick and other saints in Heaven! God’s comfort to you all.

David and Sandy, our hearts grieve with you but have full assurance of where she is at and the joy that must have been her’s when she saw her Savior. She was such a dear woman and I loved how she served with all her heart! My prayers are with you in the days ahead. She was a delight to all she met- young or old!
