F. Allan Haughwout, 92

F. Allan Haughwout, 92, of Ephrata, PA, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015 at Ephrata Manor. He was the husband of Edith A. Howell Haughwout, with whom he shared 65 years of marriage this past July 1st. Born in Elizabeth, NJ, he was the son of the late John F. and Kate Boote Haughwout.
Allan had worked for LB Smith Inc. for 10 years as the parts manager. Prior to this he had worked at Cleveland Brothers / Caterpillar Equipment Co. for 21 years in sales.
He was a member of Lititz United Methodist Church, where he sang in the church choir and helped with the tape ministry.
A US Navy veteran, he served during both World War II and the Korean War.
Allan was an avid golfer, enjoyed reading, and served as a courier and longtime volunteer at Ephrata Community Hospital. He was volunteer coach for Bedford County Special Olympics and an active member of the Bedford Kiwanis.
In addition to his wife, Edith, he is survived by his children: David A. married to Karen of Frederick, MD, Carol Jean married to Kenneth Carper of Naples, FL, Judith Ann married to David Ranck of Ephrata and John F. married to Peggy of Palmyra; his 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and his brother, Douglas of Alpharetta, GA. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jeane Nolan and his brothers, Nelson and Richard.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015 at the Spacht-Snyder Family Funeral Home & Crematory, 127 South Broad St., Lititz, PA from 10-11AM, with the Funeral Service to follow at 11AM. Interment in Memory Gardens in Ephrata. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Allan’s memory to Lititz United Methodist Church, 201 Market St., Lititz, PA 17543.

Rest In Peace Mr. Haughwout. I’ve thought about you many times over the years, especially when remembering all the great times at Christ United Methodist Church. You were always someone who I looked up to because you were just such a great person.

Although we do not see each other we are all connected and I remember your dad well from the times visiting the family when a young girl.
