Florence Mae King, 99
November 18, 2024
Florence Mae King entered eternal rest on November 18, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 99. Born and raised in Lancaster, she was the daughter of Chester Bentley and Florence Bastendorf Bentley. She was the loving and dedicated wife of Harry G. King for over 68 years until his passing in 2016.
Her life revolved around her family and her faith. A lifelong Catholic, she was a graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School, and longtime member of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church. She enjoyed family vacations at Rehoboth Beach, and hosting all the family holiday gatherings. She was also the Judge of Elections for the 7th Ward. In her leisure time she was an avid reader, enjoyed listening to music, and playing Pinochle.
Her love and memories will live on in all who knew her, especially her children, Harry G. King, husband of Gerald J. of Powhatan, VA, Kathy A., wife of Anthony Leeking, and Sharon King, all of Lancaster, and Marilyn L. Nicastro, of York, grandchildren, Sarah, Julian, Olivia, and Emily, and a great-granddaughter, Layla. She was preceded in passing by her parents, husband, and siblings, Chester Bentley II, June Studer, and Audrey Beck.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 2111 Millersville Pike, Lancaster, PA 17603, Fr. Lawrence Sherdel as Celebrant. The family welcomes guests to a viewing at the church beginning at 10 AM. Interment to follow at Riverview Burial Park. Memorial contributions in Florence’s name are encouraged to be sent to Hospice & Community Care.
