Florene M. “Tookey” Hoffman, 88

November 25, 1936 - February 20, 2025

Florene M. “Tookey” Hoffman, 88, of Lancaster, was welcomed into the gates of Heaven on February 20, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born Nov. 25, 1936, in Chester, PA, she was the daughter of George and Genevieve (Opalczynski) Bardsley.

In 1958 she graduated from West Chester University with a Bachelor of Science. Tookey furthered her education by attending Villanova University, graduating with her Masters in 1989. During her time at Villanova, she began working at Keystone Center as an addiction’s counselor and case manager from 1987 to 2006, later transitioning to Mirmont Center as an outpatient treatment counselor. Her personal accomplishment of 50 years in recovery drove Tookey to help others in their own recovery stories.

She was an amazing mother, “Mimom”, and a great friend to many. She was an advocate for the fair treatment of others and extended herself to those in need. She enjoyed visiting the beach, shopping, sharing a meal, and dancing.

Her memory will live on in her children, Joseph Hoffman, husband of Wendy of FL, Jeffrey Hoffman, Nancy Berger, wife of Aaron of Phoenixville, and Jennifer Johnston of Willow Grove, her grandchildren, Nicole & Lisa Hoffman, Shawn & Tyler Cook, and Kevin Johnston, and her sister, Earlene Drane (Thomas). She was preceded in passing by her parents.

A Memorial Service honoring Tookey will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at the Crichton Chapel at Calvary Homes, 502 Elizabeth Drive, Lancaster, PA 17601, beginning at 11:30 AM. The family will greet guests from 11-11:30 AM.
