Frances Marie Mannell, 84

January 18, 2024

Frances Marie Mannell (nee Cooper) peacefully passed away on January 18th, 2024, at Brethren Village in Lititz, PA. She was 84 years old, and died due to complications of Alzheimer’s Disease.

Fran was predeceased by her parents, Frank B. (Mickey) and Marie (Bernardelli) Cooper and her brother Mickey Cooper. She is survived by her beloved spouse of 62 years, Robert (Bob) Mannell who also resides at Brethern Village. Also survived by her 2 daughters, Robyn Powers and husband Bob of Lancaster, PA, Cheryl Schneider and husband Ed of Iselin, NJ, and 3 grandchildren, Dr. Alissa Schneider, Lancaster, PA, Zackary Schneider, Iselin, NJ, and Danielle Powers (partner Sean Maley) of Auburn, AL, a brother, Thomas Cooper (wife Esther) and a sister-in-law, Diane Cooper, of Lambertville, NJ, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other beloved family members and friends.

Fran was raised in Iselin, NJ, on her family’s dairy farm, Cooper’s Dairy. She worked in their farm store from a young age. She was a 1957 graduate of Woodbridge High School and went on to Drake Business School in New Brunswick, NJ. She held various secretarial positions and retired from Roosevelt Hospital in the early 90’s. Upon retirement, Fran & Bob moved to Vermont and spent many happy years in the beautiful mountains. Nothing made her happier than being “Grammy” to her grandkids, Lissy, Dani & Zack. She loved when they visited her in Vermont and would make them their favorite breakfast of “Grammy’s flying flapjacks”!

Fran was strong in her Roman Catholic faith, and was a member of St. Cecelia’s Catholic Church in Iselin, then St. Margaret Mary Church in Vermont where she was an active member of the Catholic Daughers.

Services will be private, and a Celebration of Life will be held in New Jersey at a later date.

Fran’s family would like to thank all of the wonderful staff and her caretakers at the Courtyards Memory Care at Brethren Village for their love and compassion.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Fran’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association at act.alz.org

Condolences to the Family

January 26, 2024

Dear Cheryl, Robin and families,  I am saddened to her of mom’s passing and send my prayers to you and Dad. Your mom was a joy to know and I had great respect for her strong faith and values. She lived for her family and loved you all so much.  Your care for her in her later life allowed you to return that love ten fold and I know she perceived every good thing you did for her.  God bless you.
Mary Kay and Jerome Sessa
