Francis A. Hartman, 94

Francis A. Hartman, of Lancaster and formerly Columbia, passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Trillium Place. He was born to the late William and Catherine Hartman. Francis was the husband of Gloria P. Hartman with whom he celebrated 70 years of marriage this year.

He was a graduate of Columbia High School, Class of 1947, and proudly served in the United States Army from 1947 to 1948. Following his service, he found his place as a civil servant with the Federal Government as a computer programmer. He retired from the New Cumberland Army Depot after nearly 40 years of service. After retiring from the Federal Government, he worked at Wyeth Laboratories in Marietta.

Francis was a devoted member of St. Leo the Great and St. Peter’s Catholic Church; He was a past Exalted Ruler of the Columbia Middletown Elks #1074. He enjoyed reading and watching Penn State and Phillies games. He had a strong love of baseball.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons Kevin P. Hartman and his wife Denise, and Michael T. Hartman; grandchildren Ashly and Casie Hartman; and his siblings Marie Theresa Cremer, Rob Hartman and Jim Hartman. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Loretta, William, Rose Mary, Charlie and Rich.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Leo the Great, 2427 Marietta Ave, Lancaster, PA 17601 on Monday, September 16, 2024, at 11:00 AM, the family invites guests to greet them one hour prior to Mass. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St Leo the Great Catholic Church, St Peter’s Catholic Church, or the Columbia Food Bank.
