My precious brother. I am heartbroken to find you have passed before we ever got to meet. I will never forgive J.R. for keeping us apart. I’m so saddened to see another half-sibling of yours has found out too late. I wish so desperately I could have found you sooner. I swear I searched for years for you. Even asking J.R.’s girlfriend for your parent’s information. Which she swore she would send. I am so sorry. I wish you so much peace. I hope we get to meet each other once I am on the other side. You were always in my heart. I still have a picture of you and Andrew when you were babies. I’ve held onto that face for so long. I love you so so so much baby brother.

Sorry for your loss. I didn’t know Gabe personally he probably never even knew me but I was his half brother. We were separated when I was to young to remember anything. I regret not reaching out sooner. After losing my other half brother who I knew my whole life I know what y’all are going through. Andrew if you are ready this I would love for you to reach out.  I knew Gabe for a little over a year and I got to know so much about him; his childhood, his favorite music artists, songs, foods, etc. He was funny, he was caring and I know how much he loved his family, especially his niece. My heart goes out to all of his family and friends. Gabe will forever be loved and missed.

THE DASH: Author: Linda Ellis
I read of a man who stood to speak at a funeral of a friend.  He referred to the dates on his tombstone, from beginning…to the end.  He noted that first came the date of his birth and spoke of the second with tears, but he said what mattered most of all was the “dash” between those years.  For the dash represents all the time that he spent alive on earth, and now only those who loved him know what that little time is worth.  For it matters not, how much we own; the cars, the house, the cash, what matters is how we live and love and how we spend our dash.  So think about this long and hard, are there things you’d like to change? For you never know how much time is left.  You could be at “dash mid-range”.  If we could just slow down enough to consider what’s true and real, and always try to understand the way other people feel.  And be less quick to anger, and show appreciation more and love the people in our lives like we never loved before.  If we treat each other with respect, and more often wear a smile, remembering that this special dash might only last a little while. So, when your eulogy is being read with our life’s actions to rehash…would you be pleased with the things they have to say about how you spent your dash?
This was read at my cousin’s funeral.  He was only 27, served his country on a submarine for six years in the Navy and when he returned home, he perished in a motorcycle accident shortly thereafter.  Gabe is in the arms of our Lord and Savior and he will be waiting for all of his family, friends and loved ones with open arms in Heaven, where you will all be reunited in Paradise!  May God comfort you all in this very difficult time!  With my sincere and deepest sympathy!  Holly Dankers

I shadowed Gabe’s 1st grade class when I was in middle school. I thought he was one of the funniest children I’d ever met and giggled the whole day. My little brother Doug was in class with him and put something in his backpack in the closet, closed the door and walked away. Gabe was looking for Doug and pressed his ear against the closet door and started looking around panicking. He started yelling for Doug. Doug walked over and said what and Gabe dramatically grabbed his chest and said I thought you were locked in the closet! He cracked me up so much that the Gabe story has been told to friends and family for over 15 years. He was a wonderful joyous child and I am deeply saddened for your loss. Keeping your family in my prayers.
