George (Chick) Harry Weaver, 89

George (Chick) Harry Weaver, 89, of Lancaster, PA, passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at the Conestoga View Nursing Home. Born in Phoenixville, PA, he was the son of the late Earl T. and Myrtle (Bare) Weaver. George was the husband of Margaret Marie (Stoll) Weaver with whom he celebrated 67 years of marriage.

A veteran of WWII, George served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was originally stationed in the Guadalcanal, and for his second tour, George was moved around throughout the South Pacific. He was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church (ECC) in Lititz, PA. He was also a member of the American Legion and served as commander of the VFW Post#7575 of Valley Forge. George was an avid golfer and liked woodworking. He enjoyed watching television and his favorite Philadelphia sports teams.

In addition to his wife, Margaret, George is survived by his children: George Weaver, Diane Weaver Karchner and Pattie Weaver Wanamaker; six grandchildren: Renee Burns, Steven Focht, Derek Karchner, Kate Capone, Brian Weaver and Rob Wanamaker; five great-grandchildren: Grace Burns, Brooke Burns, Fia Capone, Liam Weaver and Sara Focht; a sister, Mae Moore; and many nieces and nephews.

George was preceded in death by his daughter, Constance; his brother, Earl (Beetle) T. Weaver; and, his two sisters, Dorothy Weaver and Anne Force.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, November 10, 2013 at the Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church, 38 E. Orange Street, Lititz, PA. Rev. Harry Dow will be officiating. Family and friends are welcome to attend the church service and the short graveside service. All are invited to join the family in a fellowship dinner at the church to be held immediately after.
