George F. Chambers, 74

George F. Chambers, 74, of Ephrata, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on March 31, 2025. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Frederick and Siena (Waltz) Chambers. He was married 52 years to his beloved wife, Patty (Leed) Chambers.
George, also affectionately known as “Geo”, was a 1968 graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School. He worked for Bell Telephone, later known as Verizon, for 32 years, retiring in 2003. In his free, time, George enjoyed all things basketball. He coached a parochial league, refereed for PIAA for 12 years, and helped coach his grandchildren’s teams. He and Patty were proud to operate a stand at Green Dragon, “Patty’s Treasures”, for many years. George was passionate about hunting. He was a member of West End Hunting Club in Shunk, PA, since the early 70s, and the Cushion Peak Rod & Gun Club. George volunteered for Meals on Wheels and drove a van for a rehab center. He enjoyed spending many vacations at Dewey Beach with his family, and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his wife, George is survived by 3 children: Lori Anderson (Erin), Jonathan Chambers, and Erin Chambers; 6 grandchildren: Kellie Charles, Morgan Chambers, Hannah Anderson, Carter Anderson, Hunter Chambers, and Ava Chambers; great-granddaughter Willow Chambers, and 3 siblings: Robert Chambers (Brenda), Wanda Gunniss (Andy), and Lisa Pfeiffer (Mark). He was predeceased by his sister Siena Beck.
A celebration of George’s life will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 3 PM at Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. The family will receive guests beginning at 1:30 PM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions in George’s name to Gift of Life Donor Program, www.donors1.org/give-to-gift-of-life/.

George and I hunted in Sullivan county for many decades. We spend many days hunting and many nights playing cards. He will be really missed.

Sending prayers n condolences to the Chambers family/relatives/friends regarding George passing. George n I were teammates on the 1967 McCaskey Boys basketball team. He also officiated several of our basketball games during my time as assistant basketball coach at McCaskey. George was a friendly guy and a great teammate. RIP Big George
