Georgia K. Schramm, 90
January 21, 2025
It is with deep sorrow that we announce that Georgia Schramm age 90, of East Petersburg, PA, and formerly from Pinehurst, NC and Ellicott City, MD passed away on 1/21/2025. She was born in Chicago, IL to Mildred E. Towers and Donald George King. Her grandmother, Nellie Jones played an important role in her upbringing as Mildred worked full time in the Chicago library, raising Georgia and her sister as a single mother.
Georgia was known for keeping an immaculate house and was a first-class homemaker. She had the privilege of fully focusing on raising her boys David and Steven. She never missed a youth league football or basketball game and was an enthusiastic cheerleader on the sidelines. Later in life she enjoyed a long retirement in Pinehurst, NC and helped design their wonderful retirement home. Golf was a primary focus in Pinehurst and Georgia played several times a week and recorded her second hole in one at Pinewild Country Club. While there, she enjoyed wonderful and enduring friendships, and was a member of the Linden Garden Club. Having taught Steven how to play golf, she enthusiastically hosted Steven’s annual guys golf trips and family visits. Everyone loved her spaghetti, crab cakes and apple sauce cake. Georgia was never without a canine companion and cared for them with great affection. Georgia enjoyed exploring other cultures and was able to travel to see most of Europe, Alaska, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
Georgia is survived by her dedicated and loving husband of 62 years, Walter Schramm, who gave her exceptional care after a long illness, and her son Steven Schramm and daughter in law Alexandra Schramm. She has four grandchildren, Sophia and Spiro Schramm and Matthew Schramm and Dawn Lawlis and 7 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son David G. Schramm, sister Karol Athos and brother-in-laws James Athos and Luigi Campanale.

Godspeed, dear friend. How I enjoyed the years spent with Georgia and Walter in Pinehurst. Days on the golf course, exploring the countryside, sharing corned beef and cabbage that Georgia did so well. These are my loving memories of Georgia. I’m so very sorry to hear she’s left us, Walter. She was a treasure.
