Gerald E. “Butch” Douts, 77

Gerald E. “Butch” Douts, 77, formerly of Neffsville, died Hamilton Arms Center on Tuesday, May 19, 2015. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Charles D. and Ada Wissler (Erb) Douts.
Butch worked on the road crew for the Manheim Township Highway Department for 48 years. He enjoyed board puzzles and loved his dogs. Butch was very devoted in caring for his mother for many years after his father’s death in 1953 until her death in 1985.
Surviving are 7 siblings: Charles H. Douts, husband of Marlasee of York, William Douts, husband of Patricia of Glenmoore, Helen D. Friant, wife of John of Lancaster, Irene Potts of Souderton, James Douts, husband of Marilyn of Lancaster, Julia Douts of Lancaster, and Fred A. Douts, husband of Shirley of Willow Street; and several nieces and nephews. His brother John Douts and sisters Doris Douts and Edythe Menditch preceded Butch in death.
Graveside Services and Interment, with his nephew Rev. Douglas Friant officiating, will take place at 3 pm on Friday, May 22, 2015, at Mount Nebo United Methodist Cemetery, 673 Martic Heights Dr., Pequea, PA 17565. Please omit flowers. Memorial contributions may be made in Butch’s name to the Humane League of Lancaster County, 2195 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster, PA 17602.
