Gerald “Jerry” R. Evans, 85
February 27, 2024
Gerald “Jerry” R. Evans, 85, of Lancaster, PA passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was the son of the late Ethel (Rankin) and Henry Evans. Jerry will forever be remembered as a devoted husband of over 56 years to his beloved wife, Bernadette (Keim) Evans.
He was a graduate of East Lampeter High School and dedicated 35 years of his life as a Millwright/Maintenance Planner at Armstrong. In his spare time, Jerry found solace in tending to his vegetable garden and casting lines fishing especially in Canada and Stone Harbor. He was always lending a helping hand with his “Mr. Fix It” skills—always equipped with any tool anyone could possibly need.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and strength in his wife, Bernadette; children: Dana A. McFarland, Henry “Hank” L. Evans (spouse Amy J.), and Natalie A. McGuire (spouse Kenneth K.), as well as eight cherished grandchildren, Jarett, Joel, Jack, Lauren, Sean, Evan, Ryan, and Carly. He is also survived by his brother, John Evans (spouse Marian), and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Jane Bauman and Richard “Dick” Evans.
In honor of Jerry’s memory, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Community Care, 685 Good Drive, Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604.
A Funeral Service to celebrate Jerry’s life will be held on Friday, March 8, 2024, at 11AM at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home and Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. I worked with Jerry at Armstrong as a Millwright and he was always kind and willing to give advice when ever we had a job to be completed. He was very knowledgeable and a very good mechanic. He was the kind of worker that never got dirty and I always said he could wear a tuxedo to work and then go out to a show. RIP
