Geraldine B. Shuman, 87
July 30, 2024
Geraldine B. Shuman, 87, of Brethren Village, formerly of Manor Township, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2024. Born in Lititz, she was the daughter of the late J. Andrew and Elizabeth (Heisey) Bruckart. Geraldine was the wife of the late J. Robert Shuman, with whom she had been married 45 years.
A 1954 graduate of Warwick High School, she was employed at Armstrong World Industries. However, most of her life was spent farming with her husband. She retired from farming and volunteered at the Columbia Reuzit Shop, eventually becoming the manager as her “retirement job.”
Geraldine was a faithful member of the Hempfield Church of the Brethren. A collector of frogs, she would remind her family and friends, the acronym for FROG is “Fully Rely On God” and that frogs can only hop forward and not backward. Geraldine enjoyed playing games, crafting and puzzles.
Gerry is survived by her son, Stephen D. Shuman, husband of Amanda Kempa, of Washington Boro, and her daughter, Linda M. Rannels, wife of Randy, of East Petersburg; 7 grandchildren: Doug, Rachel, Aaron, A.J., and Brandon Shuman, and Libby and Jake Rannels; and 3 great-grandchildren: Arya, Serenity, and Grayson. Her joyful personality and love for her family will be deeply missed by them all.
Family and friends will be received for visitation from 1PM to 2PM, Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at the Brethren Village Chapel, 3001 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. Memorial Services will follow at 2PM. Feel free to wear bright, happy colors in honor of her. Interment at Hempfield Church of the Brethren Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Geraldine’s memory may be made to Raven Ridge Wildlife Center or to Hempfield Church of the Brethren.
