She and George enjoyed traveling and going on Senior Shepherd bus trips. Gerry and her husband took care of directing back yard picnics for over 30 years at their former neighborhood of Jamaica & Ranck Mill Roads. Surviving in addition to her husband, George, are her children: G. Douglas Vernau of Mountville, Denise V. Troupe, wife of Harold, of Lititz, and Debra V. Rye, wife of Elwood, of Lancaster; seven grandchildren: Stephanie, Jennifer, Michael, Kristen, Kyle, Justin and Amy; three great-grandchildren: Taylor, Kendall and Harper; a future great-granddaughter: Sarah Ruth; and a sister, Shirley Wenger, wife of Robert, of Lancaster.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 7PM on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 750 Greenfield Road, Lancaster, PA 17601 with Rev. Mark L. To George and family,
We were so sorry to learn of Gerry’s passing. We got to know Gerry through the Senior Shepherd’s bus trips. We have gone on the bus trips for many years. Although we don’t belong to your church, we feel as if we are part of your church family. Everyone is always so warm and friendly, especially Gerry. She was always welcoming and had such a lovely smile. I know she will be missed by many. Our thoughts and prayers to you and your family.

Dear Denise,
I was sad to read about your Mother’s death. I lost my Mom three years ago, and it is not easy. Please know that I am thinking of you and your girls and the rest of the family.
