Gilda “Jill” Angelini, 86

Gilda (Jill) Angelini, 86 of Lancaster passed away on January 31, at Lancaster General Hospital.  Gilda was born on March 12, 1925 in Camden, NJ to Cosmo and Dominica Cianci who had immigrated from Roccascalegna, Italy several years earlier.  As a young girl she spent time working in her father’s corner grocery store and enjoyed shopping trips to Philadelphia and going to Atlantic City.

Jill met her husband, Peter, while visiting relatives in Lancaster and they were married for 65 years before his death in December, 2011.

Jill enjoyed cooking Italian dishes and baking cakes, gardening, and being a homemaker.  Some of her favorite things included Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, and talk radio.  During her working years she was employed by H L Greens, Garvin’s Department Store and Baby’s Dydee Service as a bookkeeper.  Jill attended St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.

Her sweet disposition and gentle manner will be lovingly remembered and missed by her daughter, Kathy, wife of Robert Krous of Lancaster and, grandaughters Jody Lehman (Emmett) and Callie Nixdorf (David) and two great grandchildren Zane and Greta as well as her brother Ralph Cianci of Princeton, NJ

A funeral service will be held at the Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 414 E. King St., Lancaster, PA  on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at 11AM.  Friends and family are invited to the visitation from 10-11AM at the funeral home. Interment in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
