Gloria was such an encouragement to me. Her courageous and uncomplaining spirit spoke volumes. In her own special way, Gloria reached out with care and compassion to not only her roommates but to everyone she came in contact with. I can’t remember how many times she told me, “Pastor Steve, so and so is really going through a hard time. You should probably go and see them.” And she was always right! Gloria had a gentle smile and called everyone “dear”. She was keenly observant and saw things that others missed. In spite of her limitations she served others in any way that she could. It gave her a special sense of accomplishment to deliver the newspapers every day. Staff and residents alike at SVNRC grieve our loss. We are so thankful to have known Gloria!

We are so sorry for your loss. I know that we only knew Gloria a few short months while our mother was at the nursing home, but in that time we grew very fond of her. We had many talks and fun times with her. We know that our mother’s ( Esther) presence in her room was at times upsetting to Gloria but she stuck it out. She felt that she needed to watch over mom and that was reassuring to us knowing that. Gloria was truley a special lady and will not be forgotten. I am sure with her new body she is walking all over HEAVEN.
Sincerely, Susie Flinchbaugh

I’m very sorry for your loss. We were neighbors with Gloria and Norma and John back in 1970. I remember spending many hours at their house playing card games with Gloria and walking over to church across the street every Sunday.
Sincerely,
Ron May
