Gwendolyn F. (Garrett) Carter, 82

Gwendolyn F. (Garrett) Carter, 82, of Willow Street, PA, passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2024. Born in Lancaster, PA, she was the daughter of the late Grace (Greenwood) and Raymond Garrett.
Gwendolyn had many passions that filled her life with joy and drew her close to others. She was a skilled crocheter, and a talented cook. Gwen was also an avid reader. Visits to the beach held a special place in her heart, where she found peace and joy. She loved sharing her life with her beloved cats and dogs over the years. Her love of dancing and lively gatherings made her the heart of any celebration, and she was truly happiest when surrounded by family and friends. Most of all she cherished spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, John S. Fry, Jr., husband of Cynthia, of Willow Street, and her grandchildren, Declan and Jordan. She is also remembered by Robert G. Carter, husband of Kathi, of Pequea; Misty L. Wintsch, wife of Robert, of Quarryville; and Cindy L. Shuman, wife of Bruce, of Lancaster; as well as Mimi to Tawni, Kayla, and Carter. Gwendolyn is survived by numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law, as well as nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey S. Fry, and by her husbands, John S. Fry, Sr., Elwood L. Boehler, Jr. and Glenn C. Carter, along with two brothers, George R. Garrett and Robert L. Garrett.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, known for working to protect Florida’s natural lands and waters and the wildlife, including Gwen’s beloved manatees, www.myfwc.com.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11AM on Friday, November 1, 2024, at the Charles F. Snyder III Funeral Home and Crematory, 2421 Willow Street Pike, Willow Street, PA 17584. Family and friends will be received from 10AM until the time of service. Inurnment will follow at Millersville Mennonite Church.

So sorry to hear of Gwen’s passing. She was a beautiful woman. I was related to Gwen by my uncle John Fry. we had some memorable times together.
