December 08, 2024
H. Kenneth “Ken” Lutz, 88, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully at home on December 8, 2024. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Harry Lutz and Ethel (Wingenroth) Lutz-Boesch. He was married to his beloved wife Jean U. (Ulmer) Lutz for 65 years.
Ken was a 1953 graduate of Girard College in Philadelphia, a boy’s boarding school. He was extremely proud of his education and was a lifetime member of the Girard Alumni. Ken worked his entire career in purchasing, initially at Reilly Bros and Raub and eventually retiring from Anvil International, formerly ITT Grinell as a senior buyer. During retirement, Ken enjoyed maintaining his home, playing golf, traveling, and bird watching. A man of deep faith, Ken was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He was passionate about music and sang in the church choir at Trinity Lutheran for over 60 years. He enjoyed watching sports, specifically Penn State and Philadelphia teams. Most of all, Ken loved spending time with his beloved family and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Jean, he is survived by 2 children: H. Kevin Lutz (Christine) and Kara Jean Haggerty (Edward); and 4 grandchildren: Harrison Lutz, Jonathan Lutz, Erin Burns (David), and Kerrie Balcom.

As a former member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, I knew Ken well. He was a long time member of the church’s Property Committee and a serious participant in the Men in Mission Bible study group. He will be remembered fondly.

Dear Jean and family. So sorry to hear about Ken. I first met Ken in 1961 at Reilly Bros. He was one of my bosses. He was such an easy-going person. Condolences to you and your entire family.

My condolences to Jean, Kevin, and family. I sang with him in the choir at Trinity Church for many years. He had a passion for the music at Trinity and was good and decent man.

Dear Jean and Family,
The suddeness of Ken’s death must be jarring — but we can be grateful that he did not endure prolonged suffering. He now rests in the “fullness of life” and all the puzzle pieces of his life he can now see as a tapestry of grace. I hold you all in prayer. I will join you on Friday. Lovingly, Sr. Pat McCormack, IHM
