H. Zelda Smith, 93

H. Zelda Smith, 93, of Lancaster, passed away Sunday, December 22, 2013, at the Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy. Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Bessie Harrison Dunie. Zelda’s husband of 60 years, Emanuel W. “Manny” Smith died December 12th.
A homemaker most of her married life, Zelda worked at the Marietta Depot and Dodge Cork Co. during WWII to support the war effort. She was a member of Congregation Degel Israel, was a board member of the Jewish Community Center and was active in Hadassah. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels, enjoyed playing tennis and Mahjong board game and had been a swimming coach. Zelda and Manny enjoyed Florida, spending many winters at their second home in Boca Raton.
Survived by nieces and nephews, Zelda was preceded in death by her sister Hannah Ricciotti and her brothers Jerome and Harold Dunie.
The Funeral will be held 11 AM Tuesday, December 24, 2013, at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543, with Rabbi Shaya Sackett officiating. The casket will be closed. Interment in Degel Israel Cemetery. Please omit flowers. Memorial Contributions may be made to Congregation Degel Israel, 1120 Columbia Ave., Lancaster, PA 17603.

We mourn the passing of Zelda and Manny before her. They were lifelong friends of our parents, Sally and Albert Edelson and our friends, as well. Zelda and Manny were wonderful, kind, considerate people who will be sorely missed. Our condolences to the entire family.
