Helen Carol Kozikowski, 79

December 25, 1944 - July 13, 2024

Helen Carol Kozikowski peacefully entered into the arms of Jesus on July 13, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family and the comforting presence of Father Steve of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Born on December 25, 1944, Helen entered this world as a Christmas baby. She was the cherished daughter of Joseph and Ann Girardo, beloved sister of Maryanne Geisz and Joseph Girardo. Helen grew up in South Philadelphia on the Italian market where her family owned a business. She loved attending the American bandstand with friends and listening to Bobby Rydell. Helen moved to Lancaster County in 1977, after her marriage to Ronald Kozikowski, where she raised three children.

Helen’s love for Jesus was intricately woven into her love for her family. As a doting wife to Ronald Kozikowski, a devoted mother to Denise Kozikowski, Natalie Rombach and Christine Kozikowski and a cherished grandmother to Nate Simon, Sophia Simon, Jade Rombach, Cole Rombach and Allison Rombach she exemplified Christ’s teachings by her kindness, generosity, and unwavering support. Her home was filled with laughter and delicious smells, where she enjoyed cooking amazing meals for her family and friends. Helen hosted many gatherings in her home and at the beach and she always welcomed anyone who wanted to join. “The more the merrier” was her mantra.

During her lifetime, Helen worked various jobs to help support her family, but her favorite was cashiering at Oregon Dairy where she befriended many customers and coworkers. Her laugh could often be heard resonating throughout the store and she was often seen extending a helping hand to a customer in need. Helen loved traveling with her family to many exciting places such as California, New York, Colorado, Florida, New Mexico, Utah, Cuba, Bahamas, Puerto Rico, Czech Republic, Austria, France, Ireland, Poland, Maine, and Louisiana.

Helen’s life was a beautiful reflection of her deep faith in Jesus, which permeated every aspect of her being. She attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in New Holland, where she was surrounded by a loving community that blossomed into lifelong friendships. She had the pleasure of developing additional deep friendships while undertaking religious pilgrimages in Medjugorje, Israel, Fatima, Lourdes and Rome. These friendships provided comfort by showering her with love and prayers along with her family in her final days. Helen will be remembered for her passion for life and her joyful spirit that touched the hearts of all who knew her, leaving an indelible mark on the lives she encountered.

Helen’s final loving wish was to donate her body to science and was received by Humanity Gifts Registry. A Memorial Mass and celebration of Helen’s life will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 150 Water St, New Holland, PA 17557, on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 11 AM. The celebration of life will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church or The John Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center.

My sincere condolences on the passing of a beautiful soul and wonderful person.  Helen and I go way back to kindergarten and eight years following that at St. Paul’s  school  and four more years lat Saint Maria Garrett high school all in our beloved South Philly. Eventhough Helen and I have not  seen each other very much in these later years, but our friendship continued to be as beautiful as it was from day one.  I have so many fond memories of years gone by and especially meeting up with Helen almost every summer at St. James church in  Ventnor. I got to see her often in the summertime when she and her family would come down to Ventnor and  stay at the Monaco Motel  I loved Helen like a sister. She was one of the sweetest, kindest, caring, and loving human being that I have ever met. She was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it.  She  was deeply religious and greatly devoted to her God, her  family and her dear friends. Helen had an infectious laugh that could be heard all over where she was . Sometimes  we would talk for hours on the phone and Helen’s laugh with constantly come through just as if we were standing there together. I am so sad to have lost one of my dear old friends, but I am happy that she is now in peace and rest after many years of long hard suffering. My dear friend Helen rest in peace in  the arms of Jesus anand His Blessed Mother Mary for all eternity. I’m sending you much love and prayers, my dear friend until we meet again. I was lucky enough to meet Helen and Ron on their visits to Christine in Nassau.  We immediately clicked and often commented that we must somehow be related thru some shared blood along those Italian lines.  Such a warm, fun loving family.  Helen was always up for anything we proposed.  So many fun memories.  My sincere condolences to all the family and especially my sista friend,  Christine.  xoxo

Dearest Ron and Family,
We just learned of Helen’s passing from your loving arms to Jesus. We are so sorry for you loss. Ron, you know how much we loved traveling with you and Helen to Medjugorje, on several occasions, and to the Holy Land in 2019. There was something oh so special about Helen. I first met her at Oregon Dairy. That’s where the fun began for me so many years ago. No matter who met her, they’d have to, at sometime, have a smile on their face. She was the real deal. She lived. She loved. She certainly laughed but more than all these three, she taught others to do the same. Knowing her unwavering faith in Jesus, and her love for his mother, Mary, I have no doubt heaven is her final destination. May you find that truth consoling and until we meet again, may she rest in peace. She is surely praying for all of us now – even closer to Jesus than before. Be at peace. I believe, Helen surely is. She will be greatly missed but fondly remembered. Mary & Joe McCaffertt

I am sorry to hear of the passing of your amazing wife and sweet, sweet mother.  Christine and I were friends in elementary school and I remember coming to your home for a playdate.  Helen made buttered spaghetti and clams for dinner that night…it was a memorable meal 35-40 years later:).  Over the years I would run into Helen at community events or at the grocery store and she was always so warm and loving.  May God bless you with comfort and peace in the days, weeks and months ahead.
