Helen Joan Kaufmann, 73

Helen Joan Kaufmann, 73, of Manheim, PA, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2018 at Lancaster General Hospital, Lancaster, PA. She was surrounded by family and her pastor.
Joan was survived by her beloved husband, Christie William Kaufmann, with whom she shared many passionate interests and 48 years of marriage.
Joan and Chris loved bicycling, music, hiking, singing, reading, dining out with family and friends, and going to plays. They were active members of Highland Presbyterian Church. Joan’s children and grandchildren were a source of incredible joy for her. Her sons were Christopher Randolph Kaufmann and Thomas Worth Kaufmann; spouses were Tiffany and Jennifer respectively. Her grandchildren were Quinlan, Mallory, Collin, Samantha, Christian, and Elliott. Joan was fond of saying “I thought life was wonderful after I got married; but after the grand-babies started coming, it was truly heavenly.”
Joan had a B.A. Degree in English and taught in both Pennsylvania and Virginia for 20 years. She and Chris were lucky to meet while teaching, and shared time again for the last ten years of their careers in Fairfax County Public Schools, Virginia.
Friends will be received on Saturday, July 28, 2018 from 9:30-10:30AM at Highland Presbyterian Church, 500 E. Roseville Rd., Lancaster, PA 17601, with the Memorial Service to follow at 10:30AM.
