Shawn, Dan, and Elaine–I just found out about Butch’s passing.  I am so sorry for your loss!  I always remember Butch with a big smile and goofy joke in OCNJ or at Aunt Ruth’s family events.  He will be missed!

Deepest condolences to your entire family.  Have known Butch since I was young through his basketball days with my dad.  One of the greatest jokesters I’ve ever been around.  He would go out of his way to lend a helping hand to those in need.  Butch was a great supporter of the Lititz Borough Public Works department and would often look for us on the roads just to stop by and chat.  Those chats never ended without a ton of laughter and several cracked jokes.  Butch will surely be missed, but these great memories will last a lifetime.  Rip my freind and I’m sure my dad has a basketball and a few jokes waiting for you.

My sincerest condolences go out to Shawn, Dan, E., Mike, Jen and the entire family. Some of my fondest memories was playing basketball in the back yard with Shawn, Mike, et al.  Butch would inevitably come back to see what we were up to.  He would always ask for the ball then wind up taking some crazy 20′ hook shot.  It seldom went in the basket, but with 2 bad knees and shoulders I was always amazed he took the shot.  He was a legend!!  My thoughts and prayers are with you guys.

It was sad to learn of Butch’s passing as I remember him as always having respect for other people, as well as having a smile on his face.  I too, graduated from St. Anthony’s with Butch, as well as from LCHS.
It’s  certain pleasant memories that come to mind when I think about Butch. One being, before he hurt his knee playing football at LCHS, he was our Punter and I was the Center.  It was 4th down and about 8 yards to go for a 1st. Coach sent Butch in to punt it away. ( Butch had a strong leg and a great kicker ).  However, Butch saw that he could fake the punt and run for the 1st down.  Lucky for him to have made the yardage and get the 1st, Otherwise Depalo would have kicked his butt.
The world is less one Good person and Heaven gains a wonerful Angel.

My prayers and thoughts are with the Hershey family.  I first met Butch when I played Basketball for the Saint Joe team and Butch played for Saint Anthony.  In 8th grade Butch was the best player in our League.  and Saint Anthony’s won the League Championship.  Freshmen year I played on the 9th grade Basketball team with Butch.  Again he was our best player.  Butch also played football and he was a good player on our team.  Sophmore year Butch got to play early in the season with the Varsity.  Unfortunately he hurt his knee and needed surgery.  I remember visiting him in the Hospital after his surgery.  Back in that time period knee surgery was not like getting knee surgery today.  I believe the knee gave him issues for the rest of his athletic career at Lancaster Catholic.  Butch was a good guy back then and a good friend,  After we graduated from Lancaster Catholic we went on with our lives.  I am so sorry for your loss.

I can’t tell you how sad I am at the loss your family has suffered.
Butch had a smile for everyone, you would always know where you stood with Butch, there’s not a day I don’t think about I wonder how Butch would do this.
Every time I would think about calling life got in the way, Butch reminded me of my oldest brother who passed in 89, a man who was very comfortable with himself and the people he surrounded himself with.
The way he could tell a story you felt like you were there.
We are all better people for having known Butch, I always looked forward to cooking for you both.

David and I enjoyed all the times we spent with Butch and Elaine who he fondly called E. He was always available to help us around our home, share a joke with us and always a hug! He truly loved his sons and their families– very active in their lives! We have many memories of this wondeful friend! We could go months without seeing him and Elaine, and picked up our visit as it was just yesterday we last visited. May you all find peace and keep on laughing as he would want you to! Prayers and love, David and Judy Morrison
