Hernando Sanchez, 88
January 12, 2025
On Sunday, January 12, 2025, at Ephrata Manor, Hernando Sanchez went home to be with the Lord at the age of 88.
Born on October 18, 1936, to Otilia Sanchez, Hernando was born in Palmira, Colombia and lived there until he left to pursue the American Dream. During his years in Ephrata, Pennsylvania, he worked at Conestoga Wood Specialties and Meridian Wood Products. His hobbies included baking bread and painting with oil and watercolors.
His most cherished roles were being a loving husband to Laura Emma Salamanca Sanchez for 59 years and a supportive father to Carlos (Megan), Fernando (Eve), and William (Hilary). Eternally blessed with the name “Papa” to six grandchildren: Lilliana, Sophia, Addison, Estella, Landon, and Samuel; Hernando’s family brought the sparkle to his eye until his final days. Additionally, he dedicated many years to serving as a eucharistic minister at Our Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ephrata, Pa.
He was preceded in death by his mother Otilia.
Services will be held on Friday, January 24th at Our Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 320 Church Ave, Ephrata, Pennsylvania 17522. A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 am and a funeral mass will follow at 11:00 am. Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory is entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ephrata Manor-United Church of Christ Homes, 99 Bethany Rd, Ephrata, Pa, 17522.
Matthew 5:4: “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”
