James A. Keener, Sr., 80

James A. Keener Sr., 80, longtime resident of Strasburg, PA passed away Friday, March 7, 2025, at LGH. Born in Manheim, PA he was the son of the late Abram and Claribel (McEvoy) Keener.
He was an aviation enthusiast and turned what was a hobby into a career in the aviation industry. James worked as an airline mechanic for US Airways for many years. He obtained his pilot’s license at the age of 17 and enjoyed flying for a lot of his life.
James was active in his church and went on several mission trips throughout his life. He was a man of many talents who had a creative and artistic mind and someone who could fix anything.
He is survived by his children: James A. Keener Jr., Bradley D. Keener both of Houston, TX, and Stacey L. Keener of Strasburg. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Kennedi, and Dagny Keener: siblings, Patricia Desmond wife of George of Strasburg, Julia Lawson of Intercourse, Debra Keener wife of Trish of Kirkby Stephen, UK, and Abram Keener husband of Marilyn of Lancaster.
In keeping with James’s wishes there will be no formal services.

Jim Keener was a friend I met through mission endeavors. He was an amazing friend, a talented and inspiring fellow. He was a servant for his Lord and Savior. He was a great man and father! His love for the Lord and his children was everything to him! I feel humbled and honored to call him my friend! RIP sweet man. Teena
