James C. Dommel, 93

March 15, 1926 - December 12, 2019

James Charles Dommel, 93, formerly of Passey Lane, Lancaster, passed away Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Calvary Homes, Lancaster. He was the husband of the late Mary Ellen (Redfern) Dommel, who died December 18, 2009. They were married for fifty-nine years at the time of her death.

Born March 15, 1926, in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Charles R. and Erma (Kurtz) Dommel. Mr. Dommel was a founding member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church, Lancaster. A U.S. Navy Veteran having served in the South Pacific during WWII. He went on to work at the former Alcoa-Lancaster Plant retiring the day prior to the plant permanently closing.

Surviving are two sons; Albert J. Dommel, husband of Bonnie, of Whitehall, PA, Charles R. Dommel, husband of Winnie, of Glide, OR; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Memorial Service, at 11AM, Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2151 Oregon Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601. The family will receive friends at the church from 10AM to 11AM. A luncheon will follow the service. Private graveside services will be held in the Millersville Mennonite Cemetery, Millersville, PA, with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in James’ memory to Lancaster Area Meals-On-Wheels.
