James J. McGahan, Jr., 80

James J. McGahan, Jr., 80, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at his Manor Township home. He was born in Washington, PA to the late James J. Sr. and Evelyn (Swart) McGahan. He was the husband of Adrienne M. (Youtz) McGahan for 57 years last February 7th.
He served in the US Army during the Korean War from 1954 to 1957 at Fort George Meade, MD. James previously worked as a draftsman for the former Posey Ironworks in Lancaster and currently at the Weis Markets on Manheim Pike. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. His favorite hobby was roller skating, especially with his granddaughter at Mt. Gretna. Jim also enjoyed gardening, listening to oldies music, scratching lottery tickets and beach trips with is family.
James was a member of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church.
In addition to his wife Adrienne, James is survived by two daughters, Kelly, wife of Gary Steffy of Lititz, PA and Kimberly McGahan of Lancaster, PA; three grandchildren, Carrie, Bradley and Megan; and three sisters, Geraldine “Joan” Murphy of Washington, PA, Marguerite Marosz of Washington, PA and Linda, wife of Jim Lawrence of Las Vegas, NV. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Patrick McGahan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Friday, May 27, 2016 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 2111 Millersville Pike, Lancaster, PA 17603, with Rev. Michael Culkin as Celebrant. Viewings will take place 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543 and 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday at the church. Interment with Military Honors will take place 9 a.m. Saturday at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

My husband and I enjoyed talking to Jim at the Weis store, about the Steelers ,Jim was proud of his extened colection of his Steelers memorabilia. We just found out today about Jim’s passing, we were wondering where he has been these past couple of months.Jim was a true gentlemen and we were proud to get to know him.Please except our sympathy, Gina & Dennis White
